New waffle maker = Waffles for Breakfast & Dinner

We got to use our fun new waffle maker this weekend. I researched “best waffles ever” recipe and whipped ‘em up. Note to self: Don’t try to hand-beat egg whites to form stiff peaks. It. takes. way. too. long. Lesson learned.

Since I’m a photographer & enjoy cooking/trying new recipes, I’ve always had a desire to photograph the cooking process and final result. However, this isn’t always “convenient” so I rarely have, or it’s with a simple point & shoot. Well folks, I’ve decided to make a conscious effort to photograph the food I prepare/cook!

So, after a wonderful (if not perfect) Sunday… dinner time rolls around and we get home from Church hungry and scurrying around for dinner food. We both looked at each other and threw out the idea of maybe having waffles again. Within one minute, I had all the ingredients out and ready to whip up a second round of waffles. Needless to say, we definitely felt the waffles (and 8 extra pounds we gained) on Monday morning. It was worth it.

Here are some shots I got of our Sunday morning waffle adventure. You can view the set on Flickr.

Erik’s New Golden Retriever Puppy, Jack.

Brian’s close friend Erik, (old roomie) brought his new golden retriever puppy, Jack, over to play with George this weekend. The weird thing is George (our 2 yr old Golden) was bred from the same momma.  So… they’re technically brothers!  They look SO much alike as puppies- but the eyes always give it away.

It’s so strange seeing what size George used to be compared to what size is he now. George was VERY interested in playing with Jack, and has no sense of personal space and Jack seemed to think he was the same size and could hold the same game as George. It was pretty funny to observe.  Here are a handful of the photos I snapped from our play date.  I haven’t finished uploading the entire gallery yet – but there will soon be more on the Flickr Gallery (still figuring out how to make the darn plugin work on this blog so it just syncs. Hmph.) http://www.flickr.com/photos/laurenallenphotography/sets/72157623886193840/

Antigua, here we come.

Take it in. Deep breathe.  This just breathes (and quietly whispers) relaxation and peace, doesn’t it?  This is where Brian and I will be enjoying our honeymoon.  Antigua. (Pronounced An-tee-gah) – yep, I was mispronouncing it, too.     We just booked our honeymoon this week, and only have a couple more of the “big” things to  check off the list in regards to wedding planning. What a blessing to get to go somewhere this beautiful!  Wooot!  We’ll have more photos after the honeymoon. (I borrowed this image from someone else.)
